
Board of TrusteesThe BoardThe individuals who have stepped forward to shepherd the museum toward its opening represent the diversity of interests and experience of the greater St. Petersburg community. They have, over the past two years, secured incorporation and not-for-profit status for the museum, worked with the St. Petersburg Housing Authority to move the renovation process forward, attended many community events where they spread the word of the museum, and contributed their time and energy in the day-to-day tasks that have been accomplished. These individuals are: Jennifer Howard-Black—Secretary— is Director of Starling Day Care and Nursery Schools, an institution in St. Petersburg’s African American community since the mid-1970s. Ray Arsenault, Ph.D. is a noted local historian who serves as the co-director of the Florida Studies Program at the University of South Florida-St. Petersburg. Harry Harvey is one of the representatives from the St. Petersburg Housing Authority Board of Commissioners. Mark Koorland, Ph.D. is a Professor at the University of South Florida-St. Petersburg in the College of Education—Special Education. Arnett Smith, Ed.D is a retired educator and the second representative from the St. Petersburg Housing Authority Board of Commissioners. |
